Robotic Welding

Repeatable welds.
More productive welders.

Huayan collaborative welding robots repeat a weld path accurately, are taught by hand, and are easy to move between jobs.

A welder sets the weld. The robot then copies it exactly — same path, same speed, same torch angle — on every part, shift after shift.

Huayan Robotics

Formerly Han's Robot.

Intermach brings Huayan's collaborative robotics range to Australian manufacturers, backed by local application support, installation, training and service.

Huayan Robotics grew from the robotics program of Han's Laser and operated globally as Han's Robot before rebranding in 2025.

The company develops its core motion and control technologies in-house, supplies customers across more than 100 countries and regions, and was China's largest cobot exporter by overseas revenue in 2024.

Repeatability

A proven weld. Repeated.

No two hand welds are ever identical. The welder's position shifts, fatigue sets in, and the torch angle and travel speed drift over a shift.

A robot does not make a poor weld process better. It makes a proven process repeatable.

Once the weld path and parameters are established, the robot reproduces the same programmed motion cycle after cycle — reducing variation between parts and freeing skilled welders from repetitive arc time.

Less variation. Less rework. More welding done.

Built for welding

Designed around the weld.

Track the actual seam With an optional laser sensor, the robot can see the joint and follow it as it welds. If a part isn't sitting in exactly the same spot, the robot corrects itself and keeps the weld on track.
Reach more of the part With reaches from 590 mm to 1800 mm, the arm can work around large components, complex shapes and hard-to-reach welds — with less need to reposition the workpiece.
Repeatability down to ±0.02 mm Depending on the model, the robot offers repeatability from ±0.02 mm. Once a path has been established, it returns to the programmed position consistently across repeated cycles.
Dual-joint architecture Huayan's dual-joint modular arm design gives the robot a wide range of motion and helps it approach welds from angles that can be difficult for conventional robot geometries.
Collaborative architecture Huayan cobots incorporate safety functions designed for collaborative operation and closer interaction with operators than conventional industrial robots.

Every welding setup is risk-assessed as a whole, and appropriate guarding and controls are added to suit the job.

What is a cobot?

Flexible automation. Smaller footprint.

A collaborative robot — or cobot — is designed to operate closer to people than a conventional industrial robot.

A conventional welding robot is bolted in one place, fenced off behind safety guarding, with machinery to feed parts in and out. A cobot can offer a more flexible alternative: compact installation, hand-guided teaching and the ability to redeploy the robot as production changes.

For mobile applications, that difference can be significant. The E03-Pro robot itself weighs just 18 kg, allowing one person to move the arm between suitable work areas rather than bringing every job to one permanently fixed robot cell.

Applications

From fabrication to heavy plate.

Huayan welding robots can be configured for everything from repetitive production welding to large structural components and mobile welding applications.

Case study · Shipbuilding

18 kg. Built for heavy plate.

A shipbuilding application required automated welding for medium and heavy plate, but the work could not be confined to a fixed robotic cell.

The robot needed to be light enough to move around the workshop, while still offering the flexibility to weld large, complex assemblies.

At 18 kg, the E03-Pro can be carried and repositioned by one person. Once in place, the operator can teach the weld path by hand using drag-to-teach and graphical programming, with seam and arc tracking available where automatic path correction is required.

The result is portable welding automation that moves with the work — rather than requiring large workpieces to be brought to the robot.

The range

One platform. Several working envelopes.

For robotic welding, the range extends from compact portable cobots through to long-reach and heavy-payload systems. See all four in full on the Robot Range page.

Elfin

The core cobot

Elfin is the original Huayan collaborative robot platform.

It uses the same dual-joint architecture, graphical programming and broad model range found across the Huayan range, in a simpler, more economical package.

It is best suited to repeatable jobs where every part is consistent and presented in the same position — applications where additional vision or sensing is not required.

Elfin-Pro

Built for welding

Elfin-Pro is the Huayan platform most suited to welding applications.

It can be taught by hand, paired with vision to locate and track weld joints, and its sealed construction is designed for workshop environments where dust and spatter are part of the job.

Models span 4–18 kg payloads and 590–1800 mm reach, allowing the robot to be matched to the torch, workpiece and working envelope required.

S-Series

Heavy payload. Long reach.

The S-Series extends the Huayan platform into heavier automation.

With payload capacities from 20–60 kg and reach up to 2000 mm across the current range, it is designed for larger tooling, heavier workpieces and applications such as material handling, machine tending and palletising.

Elfin-Ex

For hazardous environments

Elfin-Ex is designed for applications where flammable gas or combustible dust makes a standard robot unsuitable.

Certified under China's national explosion-protection standard, it uses a positive-pressure system to prevent hazardous gas and dust from entering the arm.

Real-time pressure monitoring and automatic power-off protection add another layer of safety, making the platform suitable for applications such as spraying, coating and finishing.

Questions

What manufacturers ask first.

Will a cobot's welds match a skilled welder's?

A cobot does not replace welding knowledge. Your welding procedure, part preparation, fixturing and process parameters still determine the weld.

What the robot provides is repeatability. Once a successful process and path have been established, it can reproduce that programmed motion consistently across repeated parts.

No — not the way traditional robots are programmed.

Elfin-Pro supports hand-guided teaching and graphical programming. The operator can guide the robot into position, define the path and configure the sequence through the interface rather than writing robot code.

It's built for a shop-floor operator, not a programmer — most are running their first weld within a shift.

That depends on the workpiece, required reach and welding process.

Huayan models range from the 18 kg E03-Pro with 590 mm reach through to long-reach Elfin-Pro models and 60 kg-payload S-Series robots. Intermach can assess the application and determine the appropriate working envelope.

It depends on the complete application.

Collaborative robot safety functions address the movement of the robot itself. Welding introduces additional hazards including arc radiation, fumes, heat and spatter, so the complete installation must be risk assessed and appropriate controls incorporated.

Intermach provides local application support, installation, training and service for Huayan robotic systems in Australia.

Demonstration

See the weld. Judge the result.

The simplest way to understand collaborative welding is to see the robot run. Talk to Intermach about your application, workpiece, material and welding requirements and arrange a demonstration of the Huayan welding platform.
