Han’s Laser Exclusive:
John Goodrich—newly qualified in mechanical engineering—buys his first used metal lathe with a loan from his friend. He refurbishes the machine and sells it on for a small profit.
Building on his early momentum, John founds Goodrich Engineering & Machinery, sourcing and personally refurbishing equipment for Australian manufacturers.
The business grows steadily, culminating in a purpose-built facility for sales and service—where one of its showrooms remains to this day.
Partnerships are established with leading European and Japanese manufacturers at the forefront of laser technology, including Amada, Trumpf, Mitsubishi, Murata and Toshiba.
The business becomes one of the first in Australia to install and service used laser and CNC punching machines, including systems from Amada, Bystronic and Trumpf.
Intermach expands into New Zealand, opening its first international operation.
Raised in the factory his father established, Alex Goodrich steps into a leadership role to drive the company’s evolution.
Intermach is launched with a focus on precision sheet metal solutions, becoming a leader in fibre laser, bending, and automation.
